In May 2023, I had the opportunity to volunteer with the Red Cross at a shelter in El Paso. That’s where I met a young man who was on his way to New York with nowhere to stay. After talking it over with my wife, Eva, I decided to invite him to stay with us in Austin while he figured out his next steps. Over the next three months, he found a job, his own place, and started learning English. I helped him enroll in a high school program that ran weekdays from 8am to 3pm.

As I thought about ways for him to earn some money while continuing his studies, car washing came to mind. We started small, washing cars at my apartment complex. The response was immediate—he was able to earn honest income, and people were genuinely happy with the service. I developed a simple, quick, and eco-friendly process, and soon realized just how much water we were saving with every wash.

That experience opened my eyes to how much good could come from something so simple. I saw that I could multiply this opportunity, helping other young people in similar situations by offering fair wages, a safe and supportive environment, mentorship, and genuine care. What started as a way to help one person has grown into a mission to empower youth, conserve resources, and build a real sense of family and community.
